To our MSRC members,

After much consideration and thought the MatSu Running Club board has ultimately made the decision to cancel the 2020 MSRC season. The mission of MSRC has always been to provide a safe and fun group environment for runners of all abilities. We simply cannot attain this goal and still meet the guidelines and provisions put out by both the state and our own private insurance holders.

We know this news comes as a disappointment to many of you and we share your feelings in that. Our board members and coaches are still very much committed to this club and to our runners. We are working to provide a more virtual type of training for any of our runners that are interested which will be explained below.

1. Monthly Training Plan:

Our coaches have put together a training schedule for the month of June that will describe what your daily runs each week should look like. We have attached a copy of this below for you to print out or save. If you have any questions about this plan or the workouts please reach out to one of our coaches.

2. Weekly Trail Run:

Each week we will post a different trail to run. These will not be club sanctioned or a specified group workout but you are free to gather a small group of your own running friends to run it with. If you are looking for a small group or another person to run the trail with, please post that on our FB page. Our hope is that we are still able to keep runners connected during this time. We also encourage you to share/post your trail run with the route and times.

3. Running Activities:

Similar to what we did for the month of May, twice a month we will post a fun running activity for you to complete. We will describe these in more detail when they are posted but we will still be doing prize drawings for completing these and posting your results.

Please make sure that you are following us on at least one of these platforms to keep up to date with the activities, workouts and runs that we will be posting:

     - FB - MatSu Running Club (private group page)

     - Instagram - @matsurunningclub

     - Remind App - @matsuru

     - Website -  matsurunningclub.org

If you have already registered for the 2020 season we will be emailing you soon. You will have three options in regards to your club fees:

  1. Defer your registration to the 2021 season.
  2. Be reimbursed your full registration cost. (Minus the processing fee for CC)
  3. Donate your registration fee to club.

Most importantly, our coaches and board members will continue to be available to you during this time. If you have any questions regarding training or workouts or finding people to run with, please do not hesitate to reach out to us!

We thank you again for your continued support of the MatSu Running Club and look forward to running with you in 2021.

Heidi Quinn,

MSRC Board President

A Few Reminders

  • During April, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Colony High School, please meet at the faculty parking lot rather than the track due to soccer games on the fields.
  • Remember to bring a watch, preferably digital, though doesn't need to be fancy.
  • April can still be chilly and windy, make sure to dress in layers with hat, gloves, jacket and pants.
  • Check Coaches Corner for tips on this week's run!

* Due to our club's limited operating budget we impose a 3.5% surcharge on credit card payments that is not greater than our cost of acceptance. All registrations must be completed online. Payments may be made online with a credit card or in person to our treasurer with personal check or cash. Please see a Board member if you have difficulty registering.  We're here to help!
