    MatSu Running Club

    The Mat-Su Running Club is growing and are proud to announce our 5th season of the MatSu Running Club Junior group. The 2022 season will offer  weekly track and trail sessions geared to provide a foundation for beginning runners while teaching advance running skill and pacing for all levels.  Coach Rhonda Knopp and Norm Rousey have extensive experience coaching youth in the Mat-Su Valley and are excited to continue to promote running at all levels.

    This season Coach Tracen Knopp will be joining the coaching staff.  He has experience coaching youth with Skinny Raven in Anchorage, conducted high school aged coaching clinics  as well as personal extensive running and racing experience.

    What An 8-week structured running program that is focused on participation and the development of a healthy lifestyle.

    Who:  Ages 10-15                          Tuesdays @ 4:30 pm

                Ages 16-18                          Tuesdays @ 6:00 pm

    Dates: June 7st- July 19th

    Location:  Colony High School

    Cost:  $100

    Objectives:  Athletes will;

    • Develop an understanding of a running program.
    • Demonstrate proper running form, warm-up drills, pacing and stretching techniques. 
    • Develop character skills, such as encouraging friends, keeping a positive attitude, and setting and achieving goals.

    Hello and Welcome!


    • T-Shirt size to Coach Knopp (Adult/Unisex sizes XS, S, M, L)   You can give this at the first session June 7th. 

    o   Registered online (signed waiver)

    o   Payment completed (online, unless paying by check or cash)

    o   Digital watch

    o   Running gear:  running shoes, warm-up pants and top, hat if needed 

    o Water 


    Each session will include introductions, explanation of the workout (focus of the session) warm-up and drills, running workout, cool down, game and popsicles!
